The start of this story is simple enough: Vincent Fenwick spent much of his life as a student of the physical sciences. Just when he was all set to become a full-blown scientist, young Vinnie started delving into occult studies.
As if his colleagues’ doubts weren’t enough to shoot down his scientific career, his research led him to this supposed superdrug: Pink Flamingo. It had been at the center of entire mage wars in the past, and it was known to be capable of jumpstarting one’s magical potential. Not having the patience for years of magical study, he went and took the drug.
What happened was truly life-changing: a profound psychological and metaphysical experience beyond words, more than any earthly high. It ended with him somehow finding himself wired to the raw magical energy of reality itself; the side-effect was that only those energies could truly nourish him, to the point that he now has to “eat” his own spells at mealtime. In the simplest of terms, he’s addicted to magic.
Since then he has lived just off the wall of London; he goes into the Briar Patch to feed on its ambient magical resonance, and occasionally he goes into the city to earn a few caps as a street magician and con-man of sorts. He took up the guitar as a side hobby, and found that he had quite an ear for pitch.
Recently, some people around have taken notice of his talents…
